Costa Rica: Guanacaste - Scorpion Sneak Attack

The drive to Guanacaste wasn't too far and soon we were pulling into our new AirBnB. The house was quite nice and it had a huge pool in the back. The area was quite dry this time of year and the temperatures were reaching over a hundred degrees Fahrenheit due to a heat wave. With all this in mind we spent a lot of time in the pool and a lot of time at the beach. There weren't many public beaches so we usually went to a restaurant named Lola's which was right on the beach. It had a giant pig that lived there and was usually found laying under the trees. All the tables were out on the beach under the trees too. It worked out quite well since they served a great veggie burger and the beach had some great waves.

Since we didn't have our surfboards or our bodyboards we weren't able to do any surfing but we could still catch a bunch of waves without a board. With the heat wave unless we were in the water we were in the house for the most part. Which was alright because the house was great. The only problem was the scorpions that kept sneaking in. There was one that lived in the shower and every time we used it we had to flush it down the drain. But it would find a way back up in no time. We tried to kill it a few times but it always escaped down the drain to live another day. One fateful day it decided to leave the shower and somehow ended up in Kaden's shirt. So he put the shirt on unbeknownst to the dangerous stowaway which had hitched a ride. He soon figured it out when the scorpion started crawling around under his shirt. He tried to throw the shirt off but it was too late and he was stung. It was a spectacle and surprisingly funny to watch. Luckily the sting wasn't too bad and he was fine in a couple of days.

We didn't go much farther with the heat and because Easter is a really important holiday for Costa Ricans so almost everything, including the restaurant, was closed. We also discovered that the Easter Bunny doesn't visit Costa Rica but we had fun hiding eggs for Sage.
