The drive from Uvita to our new airbnb in Atenas, near the capital city San Jose, wasn't too long and got interesting when we stopped at a river called the Tacoles. There were all sorts of stands set up on either side of the big bridge but under it was what we stopped to see. We walked out onto the bridge to see huge crocodiles below us! It was like going back to the time of the dinosaurs. They were so much bigger than we expected and so many of them. It is supposed to be one of the most populated crocodile places in the world and it looked like it.
After our crocodile stop we drove on to our next home. The house had a long winding driveway that went straight up a hill to a little plateau where it stood. It was close to the airport so we could have a short commute for our flight to Peru. After we spent a week in Peru Dad was going to fly into the States for a business trip and we were going to fly back to Costa Rica. A couple days later we would pick him up from the airport before heading on our way. But it didn't really pan out that way in the end.
The AirBnb was really nice and quite modern. There was an abandoned lot behind the house where we could practice baseball and play some soccer. There were also great trails for running and you could see a bunch of Keel Billed Toucans in the area. Like this one Zaddek and I saw on our walk.
Since we were going to be moving around a lot in Peru I was doing extra school work to try and cover as much as I could of the week of work I was about to miss. We also made a game of rolling a golf ball down the driveway and scoring it in a bin at the bottom of the hill. There was a pool just below as well but it was a little chilly although we tried it a few times.
Our flight was coming up soon so we sorted our bags and left anything that was nonessential for the next week in the van before we left.
