Europe Day Ten - Walking Paris

Our day started in our hotel near the Dublin airport at five thirty in the morning. We all got up and got out the door into an airport taxi. We got on the plane and flew to Paris. On the way there we caught a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower in the distance. When we landed we took another taxi to our hotel to drop off our backpacks. From our room you could see Invalides where Napoleon was buried.

Napoleon had his tomb put below floor level so that anyone who looked at him would have to bow. Of course when Hitler was there he had people set up mirrors so that he did not have to bow down to see him.

We started walking down towards the Eiffel Tower (which was only a few blocks away). On the way we got some french onion soup for lunch. Our seats were set up on the sidewalk towards the street so you can see the crowds of people walking by, like many other restaurants in Paris. Finally we got to the Eiffel Tower.

It was so high. The Eiffel tower was the tallest man made structure in the world when it was surpassed by the Washington Monument.

We didn't go up it but kept walking down to the Seine river and walked the sidewalk beside it for sometime.

Along the way we saw some pretty cool statues as we walked to get our Paris passes. Our Paris passes gave us access to the underground metro, famous sites and museums. We walked all the way back to our hotel for the night and got some bread and cheese for dinner. After that we all fell asleep after our long day.
Total miles walked: 7.2 miles
Total taxis: 2
Total planes: 1
