A Great Canadian Summer - K. Taylor

My brothers and I have created this blog to keep track of our upcoming road trip and to write down our experiences over the past three months in Canada. We have been staying at our family owned lodge named Caribou Lodge. The lodge is located in Muskoka, Ontario. We drove up from our home in Sanibel, Florida to spend the summer. It has been quite the experience. Whether we were simply having a campfire or zipping from tree to tree we were always having fun.

Our adventure started on June 21st, which also happens to be our sister's two year-old birthday, when we arrived at my Grandpa's in St. Marys, Ontario. We continued on quickly so our twelve year old golden retriever could spend the rest of his days free to roam across the lodge. Sadly we had to put him down a week later.

As soon as we got up we had baseball to play. We had signed up for the Muskoka Hornets baseball team.

We weren't the best team but we won a couple of games and advanced far into the playoffs winning three games in a row.

Halfway through the season we signed up for the Edge Baseball training camp with some of our teammates.  After that we decided to sign up for a special Bluejays Camp with some of the veteran Bluejay players. It was amazing being taught by some of the best players to ever play for the Bluejays. It was very fun and we learned a lot.

As the summer went by we continued to have fun by playing with our cousins, campfires, and swimming.

The last week of August we went back down to St. Marys where my Grandpa Ken and Grandma and Grandpa Dave lived. We spent the week going back and forth between their houses swimming, playing, and laughing. We also went to my Uncle Scott's, Aunt Leeanne's and cousin Noah's new house. We jumped off a pier into Lake Huron and rode their dune buggy. Uncle Scott let me drive his jeep too.
.

On my mom's birthday we were invited to one of my mom's friend's house where I played with some of their kids including Thomas and Tate. We played soccer, baseball, and dodge ball.

We also visited my Grandma's cottage where we jumped off the raft.

After we came up from the cottage we went camping in Algonquin park. It was awesome except for the fact that I never got sleep.

In the evening we went for a drive and saw two beaver. In the morning we went hiking for six hours but couldn't spot any more wildlife except for birds and squirrels. We did see a beaver lodge and big dam.

After that we came back to stay a week at our cousins cottage across the lake as they needed our cottage for the homes for special care visit. We came over and helped to run the kitchen as a restaurant.

Then we went to Great Wolf Lodge to celebrate my brother Bodhi's birthday. We had an amazing night and spent hours on the water slides. After we walked over to see Niagara Falls.

Later that week our Uncle Jesse took us tubing and it was really fun.

For my birthday we went Tree Top Trekking where we ziplined, climbed and swung through the trees. We came back for an amazing dinner and cake that my sister helped me blow out. The week before we left we went to Uncle Steve and Aunt Karen's house. Uncle Steve helped us make our own clocks in his workshop. It was one of the coolest things I've made.
Then for the last two days we packed and got ready for our long three week road trip across the states.
